Dmytro was at home in Kramatorsk when an enemy Iskander missile suddenly struck. "I thought I had died at that moment — maybe a stroke or something like that. I didn't realize there had been an explosion, but about 10 seconds later I heard rubble falling on me," Dmytro recalls the moments of the strike.
After that came hours of fighting for survival. His legs and left arm were pinned under a concrete slab, leaving him immobilized. His eyes, mouth, and nose were filled with bricks and debris from the collapsed structure. There was nothing to breathe. To make a passage for air, he had to swallow everything that blocked it. Then he began to call for help. Dmytro managed to raise his right elbow and shout during moments of silence. That is how rescuers noticed him and soon freed him.
Unfortunately, many of his neighbors did not survive the strike. Dmytro, however, managed to overcome this ordeal. Some time after the trauma, the young man decided to restore his appearance, firmly believing that if a person can improve something, they should not just sit back and do nothing.
On February 14 of this year, she was spending time at a playground with a friend. He was riding a swing and invited Alina to join him, but she refused. She was walking around nearby, chatting. Suddenly, the girl heard a whistling sound and started to run; she saw only a flash and collapsed from the injury she sustained.
An ambulance took both teenagers away. Sadly, the boy could not be saved. Alina was brought back to consciousness and received the necessary medical care. The news about her friend severely affected her psychological state. The pain was beyond words.
Scars and traumatic markings on her face constantly reminded her of that terrifying moment. She felt ashamed of her reflection and hid from the eyes of others. Alina's mother reached out to us with a request for help. Unfortunately, we were unable to heal Alina's deepest wound, but we were able to restore her appearance, which significantly improved her quality of life.
A woman from Izyum, Kharkiv region. From the first days of the invasion, the city suffered from shelling, mines were coming one after another. Unfortunately, one of them wounded Tetiana right near her house. And even with such unbearable injuries, she had to get out on her own. Together with her family, she managed to leave, albeit under shelling, with damage to the car.
"We reached Sloviansk. There I was given first aid, but I didn't understand what was happening to me. They gave me water to drink. I pour it, and it pours out," recalls Tetiana. For some time, she had to eat literally through a syringe, because there was practically no jaw, nothing held the food.
Tetiana was given the first hope of recovery in the American-Ukrainian mission, where her jaw bones were restored🙏🏼 The survivor turned to "Save Beauty" to reconstruct her lips, restore the opening of her mouth, to be able to engage in dental prosthetics. And of course, to find confidence in herself and stop being ashamed of her appearance.
